Help us support Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by donating today!
Miracles happen every day, and Dominic is one of them. The 17th Annual Miracle Walk is a wonderful family fun-filled day, which raises funds in support of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Saint Barnabas Medical Center
As a level III Regional Perinatal Center, the NICU offers the latest treatments and modalities in the field to provide the most advanced care for more than 1,400 premature and ill newborns each year. Our NICU has one of the best infant survival rates among neonatal intensive care units in the nation.
Our personal angel on earth was one of the many babies cared for by the loving and knowledgable staff at SBMC. When my water broke at 22 weeks, Michael and I were prepared for the worst. Our chances of making it over 48 hours without going into labor were very low. With the support, love, and prayers from all of you, plus the amazing care I received from SBMC, Dominic John Alvarez made it 9 weeks without giving mommy so much as a cramp. He was born at 31 weeks (9 weeks early) with a partially collapsed lung, and with the intensive care he received, he was extubated after 24 hours and off of supplemental oxygen in less than a week. Our "dominator" was cared for like family and we owe the NICU staff anything we can raise for them to continue providing superior care. Today, Dominic is a healthy and happy toddler with no health issues. We are thankful for the NICU staff every day!
On behalf of the entire NICU family and the 1,400 babies we care for annually, I hope you can support me and my team for this year's walk. Your commitment and generosity help to guarantee a strong future for the NICU and Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
You can walk with me on October 8th or donate to my team. Your support will matter to so many people. Please join me today!
