This is 6!
This is 6. Kindergarten here we come! Six years ago, Jordyn came crashing into the world, not ready to breathe without the help of a machine. At the time, we felt like her survival would be nothing short of a miracle. We waited as she was treated for a grade 4 brain bleed. We sat in the OR waiting room as she had surgery. We visited every day, usually 2 or 3 times a day for 99 days. We held our breath as she went into shock when introduced to formula. We cried in the nurses and doctors arms when it was time to take her home with us. As scary as the time in the NICU was for us, it also became our home. 99 days. When Jordyn was born at 24 weeks she weighed a pound and a half. Her eyes were still sealed shut. Her lungs were not fully developed. Her skin was still translucent. We were terrified. The amazing nurses held our hands and helped us learn the ways of the unique world of the NICU. For those who’ve been through it, whether for a day or months, you know it has it’s own rules, language and way of life. Those nurses made each day a special one. They taught us to celebrate milestones, regardless of how small. The helped us introduce Jacob to his little sister through a glass window. They celebrated with us when jordyn took 2 drops from an actual bottle. They made us appreciate the big steps for this tiny girl. And the doctors saved her life. They reinflated her collapsed lung on one of her first days of life. They changed medications, treatments, and oxygen so she could grow and become independent. And they held told us it would be ok. And we believed in them-we believed in miracles. So for this, our 6th miracle walk we ask you to join us. Join us in giving. The money we raise will help make the new NICU even better. We need more technology. Each piece of equipment will go to a new baby who needs their miracle. Join us in walking. Miracle Walk 2017 is October 8th at Verona Park. Walking with our friends and family makes a special day even better. Join us in making miracles happen. We cannot thank you enough for your support. Xo, Tara, Rich, Jacob and Jordyn
